Time

Elena's use of time is entirely intuitive. She has never used a clock but is always aware when its time to do something.

Because Ramon Emmanuel told her he'd be sending for her after ten weeks of exile, its important to her to know how long that will be. Rather than using a traditional calendar she devises her own system. She knows that a week has seven days and that the seventh day is holy, so she has six rocks. Every day she puts one in a cup. On the seventh day she takes them all out and from another pile of rocks, puts one in her bedside table's drawer. When she gets to ten rocks in the drawer she knows she'll be hearing from Ramon Emmanuel.
