Besides travel distance, the main measurement Elena has used is filling baskets with strawberries while getting them ready for market. At the commune she labored in the fields with other women while the men got the fun of taking the berries to market in Santa Cruz where they traded for supplies.
She also uses measurements while cooking at the restaurant in San Francisco. Other than on these occasions, I do not yet know what measurements she might need to use.
