While Elena is in SF a few messages are exchanged between her and the commune dwellers. Though she's mathematically challenged, Elena is an excellent writer and is in constant need of more paper.
Elena is also good at learning languages and has become fluent at not only her native Ohlone language and Spanish, but English as well - it was taught to her by her husband in the commune.
